The trailer of ‘Udta Punjab’ just blew up the internet

Just days after the release of its character posters, upcoming Bollywood film Udta Punjab’s trailer hit the internet this weekend, and it’s so impactful, it’s got fans all over the world watching it on repeat.

What makes the trailer such a thriller? It’s not just the film’s controversial topic (spotlighting the rapidly increasing rate of drug use in Punjab), but also the new avatars you’ll be seeing two of the main characters, Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in.

Almost unrecognisable, the co-stars play drug addicts so convincingly in the three-minute trailer, one can’t begin to imagine the work they’ve put into fitting into their new moulds. While Bhatt plays a migrant Bihari worker, Kapoor plays Tommy Singh, a rockstar living on the edge. The sneak peek also reveals Kareena Kapoor Khan as a concerned doctor, and Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh in the role of a cop. Now going viral, the trailer has earned Udta Punjab’s crew lots of support and appreciation on Twitter already.
